Our Sustainability Efforts

In it for the long-haul

The things we build are meant for longevity and made with purpose. Our goal is that the spaces we help to create are so beautiful, durable and well designed that a home-owner would ever need to replace them.

Below are other ways we do our best to consider how our work impacts the environment on a daily basis with each project.

  • Lowering waste

We use FSC certified wood and veneer, taking care to save our solid wood offcuts for future projects. The smallest pieces of hardwood are up-cycled for cooking or heating fuel.

We work with specialized panel nesting CNC cabinet software that minimizes panel waste. Larger panel scraps and offcuts are saved and up-cycled into shop cutting jigs, shop fixtures and shipping crates.

  • Logistics

Our team is local and live within a few Kilometers of our shop. This means during shop days we can walk or bike to work. You may even see us cycling to a site or client meeting.

For install work we prefer to drive our tools to site in a small fuel-efficient car, and for bigger deliveries utilize carshare cargo vans. This helps us get around the city easier and with fewer emissions.

  • Finishes

We avoid lacquer based finishes whenever possible. We prefer natural linseed oil-based, low-VOC finishes to avoid harmful toxins in your home. We apply them with up-cycled cotton cuttings. We do not use water in our production process.

We prefer to use Low-Fermaldehyde particle-core panels when pressing custom veneers.
